ROOT CANAL WITH ABSCESS
Multiple Visits

The root canal procedure is typically 1 day.  However, the an abscess, the dentist will place an antibiotic in the canal.  This antibiotic will need up to 5-7 days before returning to complete the root canal procedure.

The bacteria and other dying pulp remnants can cause an infection or abscessed tooth. An abscess is a pus-filled pocket that forms at the end of a tooth's root. In addition to an abscess, an infection in the root canal of a tooth can cause: Swelling that may spread to other areas of the face, neck, or head.

But signs of infection severe enough to require a root canal include: Serious teeth pain when eating or when you put pressure on the area. Teeth pain and sensitivity to hot or cold that lingers after the hot or cold stimuli have been removed. A small, pimple-like bump on the gums near the area of teeth pain.
